I’m Alyssa, known online as AL WISE. I’m an illustrator and painter based in Detroit, MI.

I use my art practice to study and capture the whimsy of the ordinary world. I never limit myself to one medium – you’ll see me rotate between oil, gouache, ink, colored pencil, and pastels. I like to use whatever tools necessary to express the personality and intrinsic quirks of the subjects I choose. 

In my portfolio, you’ll find vibrant color, bold shapes, varied line weights, and loose brushstrokes. I find that my best work comes from experimenting and letting go, in the spirit of play and finding pockets of hope and joy in my surroundings.
